What happens when an LEI lapses?

If an LEI lapses, it moves into a LAPSED state in the Global LEI System (GLEIS) public database. This is not something you want for your organization.

  1. You risk non-compliance with hundreds of LEI related regulations
  2. Your public GLEIS record will contain out of date identity information
  3. LEI records are historical and persistent within the GLEIS database
